Join us this summer as we explore the universe and its countless stories! We will kick off with a huge party at the Ellis Fine Arts Center on June 5, 10 am to 12 pm. The party will be space camp-themed with prizes, games, snacks, toys, puzzles, and loads to enjoy. On June 11 at 10 am, join us again at Ellis for musician Alan Cunningham’s rousing performance. The following week, on Tues. & Wed. at 10 a.m., we will begin our regular weekly programs at the library, which include stories, crafts, activities, snacks, reading prizes, and more! Juggler Brian Wendling will visit us at the Ellis Center on July 3 at 10 am, and the Rare Jewels of the Rainforest Bird Show will return to Ellis on July 16 at 10 am. We also plan to offer an alien party in late June (possibly on the 24, with parties from 2:30 – 3:30 and 4:30 to 5:30) and a Saturday LibraryCon event in late July (possibly on July 20, from 9 – 2). More details to come! To check out our latest news, see our Facebook Events Page. You may register for summer reading by filling out a paper registration form, available on library circulation desks, in the Buck Run lobby, at Family Video, or sent home through local schools and daycares. You may also register online at this link. Register by June 4 for a special prize, available at the library’s downstairs desk!
We need volunteers and donors to make the summer reading program a success! Volunteers are needed to man tables at the kick-off family and teen parties; read stories and do presentations or help in the craft room at regular weekly events; help with set up, clean up, and activities at special parties, and assist with registration at our performers’ events. Donors help make summer reading more enjoyable for everyone by bringing food to our parties and weekly kids’ and teen programs, and by donating prizes to encourage reading. There is a sheet for volunteers and donors to fill out on the back of each registration form and at the bottom of the online registration. Thank you for making a difference in your community!
